Norwegian are looking for a new Route Manager to join the Network team, based in Oslo. The department is a part of the Commercial division together with Revenue, Sales, and Marketing.

As a key member of the route team you will be responsible for managing the P&L of our short-haul network. Having a comprehensive understanding of profitability, customer type, market conditions and competitor activity you will take the lead in driving cross commercial activity to maximize profitability. You will decide how best to utilize our short-haul aircraft to meet the company’s financial and strategic objectives.

You will be a self-starter and have excellent analytical skills, translating your analysis into clear, concise recommendations. You will need to be a great team player and manage a variety of internal stakeholders to ensure an aligned commercial plan for your area of responsibility. Reporting directly to VP of Network, you will help Norwegian optimize and grow its short haul network over the 0 – 18-month time horizon.

Main tasks:

  • Manage the profitability of the short-haul route network, making decisions on timetables, capacity, frequency changes and overall commercial product to deliver Norwegian’s financial goals.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the performance of every route within the short-haul network and communicate clear route and country strategies to internal stakeholders.
  • Lead cross commercial groups to maximise route performance and identify key performance and trading issues. Lead monthly stakeholder engagement with pricing, marketing, scheduling, sales, third party airport and PR and decide on the best course of action for the group to take to maximise profitability.
  • Set budget production and monitor monthly performance.
  • Closely monitor competitor activity and develop clear competitor strategies in each market.
  • Work closely with the scheduling team to deliver the optimum commercial timetable that also meets all slot and operational requirements.
  • Identify new route opportunities and ensure a pipeline of fully evaluated routes is ready to launch when needed.

Key qualifications:

  • University degree in economics, transport/logistics, statistics, mathematics or general business studies
  • 5-10 years’ experience in aviation in a network or revenue management role
  • Ability to handle a high work load
  • Ability to handle simultaneous projects and adapt to a quickly changing environment
  • Great teamwork skills & ability to work cross functionally with experience of co ordinating and managing various stakeholders
  • Detailed Excel knowledge and understanding of statistical analysis
  • Excellent English skills
  • Interest in the airline industry & willingness to travel. Circa 20% of total time will involve travel
  • Outgoing, analytical and with an urge to deliver the best result for the Company
